Mortgage Underwriter
Ark Mortgage, a leading home loan lender in New York and New Jersey is looking for a Mortgage Underwriter with 3+ years of Conventional experience. DE/SAR is a plus, but not required. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Underwrite primarily conventional loan applications, ensuring adherence to company and investor guidelines.
Evaluate and verify applications – determining whether the borrower will be able to repay the loan.
Review and audit of loan files for completeness and accuracy, analyzing credit documents, including, but not limited to: mortgage applications, credit reports, income documents, title reports, appraisals and all applicable compliance documents.
Review all conditions of loan approval and ensure all conditions are satisfied prior to submitting the loan to the closing.
Prior to declining any loan, review the decision with supervisor in an attempt to find alternative solutions.
Communicate the results of loan underwriting decision to the originating personnel
Coach/counsel originators and/or mortgage loan personnel in the interpretation and application of underwriting guidelines and provide guidance and recommendations.
Assist when required to satisfy any post-closing issues.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Minimum of 3 + years of experience in an underwriting role and thorough knowledge of the mortgage industry
DE/SAR preferred, but not required
Encompass experience preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines within an acceptable time frame
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment

I currently have 3 businesses running out of the five towns in the USA while I am in Israel running the core businesses. I am looking for somebody really good to anchor the NY office and develop any or all of the businesses.

From Jerusalem it is hard/impossible to find that person. If you know of anybody for whom this is an option please let me know.

Each business has its own path to be comfortable successful businesses. All of them have what to offer but without somebody who is energized, and incentivized they really just sit there.

1. Travel Agency — In business since the 1960’s. I kept this going for years only for my mother’s sake. The type of travel that she did, really has no justification in today’s market, however, a number of years ago, I used this business to run pessach programs for about 4 years and the profit was very high. It has some risks, because you have to make commitments, but if you know how to brand it and sell it, you can do very well and we are well positioned to make this work in Israel. Also, kosher trips to countries, cruises etc…. on the high end can be very profitable. This agency has a name that people and suppliers feel comfortable with. The name has been out there for a long time. So with the right people it could be a viable business. It is obviously all set up and ready to go. Just needs the human resources to get it moving again.

2. Cellular Solutions – Our cellular business has been around since the year 2000. For the past few years it is working on automatic pilot. The prices have sunk so low that it has not been worth it to invest too much on this business. In the meantime we have gotten access to some very attractive products for Israel/USA and rest of world and have redeveloped the whole logistics side to cost us much less and can be profitable with a good plan being implemented. We have moved to prepaid models, we have great USA Sim products to market all with minimal overhead. And products for Israel that are low cost and minimal overhead. Running WebSite, Ongoing clientele and main office in Israel. It also is geared to the same marketplace as #3 below.

3. iKonnect — This is a new project. Based on a startup by Israeli engineers out of army intelligence. It is a platform developed to reach the millennial marketplace and create brand loyalty/engagement for that age group. All marketing studies show this is the hardest market to reach and all traditional loyalty programs etc.. do not reach these people. (a real explanation requires a real meeting on this). In any case, when I invested in this startup, as a hedge on my investment I receive a copy of this engine to use as I see fit. Based on our knowledge of the Israel / Tourist marketplace we created a brand called “Israel” and we have been developing it to see if the platform works to create engagement with “Israel” for the millennial market. At the time I wasn’t sure what the business model would be, but I knew that the need to reach pro-Israel millennials was growing more and more. Needless to say, the Ikonnect – Israel project is proving 2 things. The platforms works like a charm on the markets we thought it would and we can create a window to reach these people for all kinds of businesses, Not for Profits, tourism enterprises, Judaica etc.. When you reach these people now they will remain loyal for many years – so it is worth a lot to a lot of potential customers both in Israel and the USA. We are reaching out to potential sponsors in Israel but the USA market is huge.
Perhaps more importantly, “Israel” is only an example of a customer of this platform. We can make this platform work for all kinds of customers and are licensed to market it all over the world. This is a breakthrough product. And now I need people to monetize the idea. It is ready to go.

That a brief rundown.

I am looking for someone ready to jump in without looking for a comfort zone of salary etc.. Willing to invest to reach success and get commission on success and ultimately potential equity. If they want to invest money as well the equity share will be more substantial. I have invested quite a bit in these and continue to from here in Israel. When I tried paying people salaries in the USA, I got employees. I need entrepreneurs.
