With an established and passionate team of 10-12 members in the U.S. and 70-80 in Israel, Belev Echad is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead and align its operations, implement the vision of the founders and board, and ensure the organization continues to thrive.
Role Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer is a dynamic, results-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the founders, the COO is responsible for implementing and executing the strategic vision and recommendations of the founders and the board.
This is a new role within Belev Echad, created to support the organization’s rapid growth. The COO will work closely with the founders and the team to shape and define the role, requiring flexibility, creativity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity. The ideal candidate thrives in a space where they can chart new courses, build systems and processes that drive impact, and ensure alignment across the organization.
The right candidate is a strategic thinker, proactive problem solver, and effective communicator who can juggle competing priorities with resilience and focus. They must have the agility to thrive in a high-energy environment, the creativity to design a new role, and the leadership skills to bring structure and alignment to a rapidly growing organization.
This role requires proficiency in Hebrew, as the COO must communicate effectively with the Israeli team. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, resilient, and comfortable navigating a demanding and ever-changing schedule, which may include evening, early morning, or weekend commitments due to events and coordination across time zones.
Ideally, the right candidate has 8+ years in operational leadership, with a strong preference for nonprofit experience. They also ideally have experience managing cross-cultural teams and navigating geographically dispersed operations.
The role is based in New York City, with periodic travel required.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership
• Lead and oversee day-to-day operations across the U.S. and Israel, ensuring alignment and smooth communication between both teams.
• Collaborate with the founders to shape the COO role, designing and implementing scalable systems and processes that align with organizational growth.
• Implement and execute the strategic vision and priorities set by the founders and the board.
• Serve as a key advisor to the founders, helping translate vision into actionable plans that drive organizational success.
2. Organizational Coordination
• Serve as the central point of connection between U.S. and Israeli teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
• Establish systems to ensure all team members are aligned with organizational priorities and goals.

• Generate and interpret analytics to optimize opportunities and minimize costs/losses.
3. Program and Event Management
• Oversee the execution of large-scale events, including an annual 1,000-person gala and monthly soldier trips to the U.S. (New York, Miami, California).
• Plan and manage events that require flexibility and coordination of multiple teams and resources.
• Continuously improve programs and events to enhance participant and donor engagement.
4. Financial Oversight and Resource Allocation
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and goals.
• Ensure resources are utilized efficiently and transparently.
5. Marketing and Fundraising Support
• Partner with the Chief Development Officer and marketing teams to support fundraising strategies and donor engagement efforts.
• As required, represent Belev Echad at donor meetings and events, inspiring confidence and trust in the organization’s mission and operations.
• Ensure that funds raised are utilized effectively and demonstrate the organization’s impact.
• Oversee the execution of the founders’ vision as it relates to branding, marketing and PR.
6. Risk Management and Compliance
• Identify and mitigate risks to ensure organizational resilience and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Develop contingency plans and ensure operational stability during crises or emergencies.
7. HR and Team Management
• Oversee HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, team development, and performance management.
• Cultivate a mission-driven culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
• Manage a geographically dispersed team, creating unity and alignment despite distance and time zone differences.
8. Technology and Infrastructure Management
• Oversee technology systems, infrastructure, and data management to support organizational operations.
• Drive process improvements and operational efficiency through the use of technology and best practices.
Key Qualifications:
• Language Proficiency: Fluent or highly proficient in Hebrew, with the ability to effectively communicate with Hebrew-speaking team members in Israel.
• Leadership Expertise: Proven track record of senior leadership in a nonprofit, corporate, or startup environment, ideally in operations or program management.
• Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where schedules and priorities can change rapidly.
• Operational Skills: Strong ability to manage and optimize operations, with experience implementing scalable systems and processes.
• Team Builder: Exceptional people management skills, with a talent for motivating and uniting diverse teams.
